Park your Car at KUL Airport
Kuala Lumpur International Airport houses several parking facilities to meet the needs of its passengers. It’s important to remember that KUL Airport has two terminal buildings. KLIA terminal 1 serves conventional airlines, whereas KLIA terminal 2 houses low-cost air carriers. The two terminals operate as separate airports. In any case, both terminals feature car parks. Thus, passengers find short-term parking at KLIA terminal 1, while the KLIA 2 parking lies on the adjacent Gateway@klia2 Mall. A long-term parking facility can also be found within the airport’s premises, while valet and premium services are provided as well.
Our Tip: Apart from the KLIA airport parking lots, several other car parks are located within close distance of Kuala Lumpur Airport but not inside the airport complex. While they are typically somewhat more affordable than the airport’s parking lots, they are certainly a less convenient option. That being said, off-airport car parks usually provide airport shuttle services for free.
The KLIA 1 Parking Options
KLIA terminal 1 features a short-term car park (STCP) offering a total of 5700 parking spots. The parking lot lies next to the Main terminal building, connected to its second level, spreads over four blocks (Blocks A, B, C, and D), and has seven levels. Thus, its parking spaces are covered. The Short-Term KLIA 1 Parking Lot has a designated zone for motorcycles on the ground floor of Block A. Moreover, it has accessible parking spots for travelers with disabilities.
On the other hand, motorists who value convenience during their travels usually park their cars in the Preferred Parking Lot. The Preferred Parking Lot is a zone of level 2 of Blocks B and C. It features 300 parking spaces and is the closest area to the Main terminal building.
Our Tip: Parking Block E can also be found close to KLIA terminal 1. It lies next to Sama-Sama Hotel KL International Airport, connected to the Main terminal building via a skybridge.
You should ensure your car is parked within the designated lines of the parking lot. Otherwise, your car will be clamped and you’ll have to pay an RM100 ($22,53/€21,60) fee.
The KLIA 2 Parking Options
KLIA terminal 2 doesn’t house parking facilities. However, the directly connected to the terminal Gateway@klia2 Mall offers an 8-level parking lot featuring more than 5600 parking spaces, including a zone for disabled travelers. The Public Parking of Gateway@klia2 Mall serves both the mall’s customers and the KLIA passengers. Therefore, motorists can park their cars at the parking lot and access the terminal building directly from the parking facility.
Located at Level 3 of the shopping mall lies the Valet Parking Facility. It is situated near the departure drop-off area and provides secure parking services, monitored 24/7 by cameras.
Parked Car Locators are available near the automatic payment machines, allowing motorists to enter their car’s license plate number and find its exact location within the parking facilities.
The Long-Term Parking at KLIA Airport (LTCP)
Kuala Lumpur Airport also houses a long-term parking lot. The Long-Term Car Park (LTCP) is located near Malaysia Airports Training Center, a 7-minute drive from KLIA terminals. It is linked to KLIA terminals 1 and 2 via the free airport shuttle bus. The purple bus runs around the clock every 15 minutes and takes about 6 minutes to travel from LTCP to KLIA terminal 1 and 10 minutes from KLIA terminal 2 to the LTCP. Its waiting time at the LTCP is 4 minutes. The Long-Term Parking of KLIA Airport offers 4500 sheltered parking spots. Moreover, a motorcycle zone can be found near its entrance. Restrooms are also available.
Apart from the Long-Term Car Park, the Short-Term Car Park (STCP) of KLIA terminal 1 features a zone dedicated to long-term parking. It is situated at Blocks A and B.
KLIA Parking Rate Fees
Each KLIA parking facility has its own price table. In general terms, short-term parking lots are more expensive than the long-stay parking facility. Payments are accepted in cash at the automatic machines located in all the KLIA airport parking lots. Moreover, cashless payments and the Touch&Go payment system are also accepted. Thus, you can tap your card and scan the QR Code to pay online or head to the automatic machines. Nevertheless, you should bear in mind that TNG payments are 10% costlier. It’s important to take care of your chip coin. Indeed, if you lose it, you’ll have to pay an RM50 ($11,30/€10,80) fee.

Pick-ups and Drop-offs at KUL Airport
You won’t find designated parking lots for drop-offs and pick-ups at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Although there are zones for picking up and dropping off passengers outside the terminals, motorists are strictly allowed to stop for only a few minutes. They can’t park there. Thus, if you want to pick up a passenger arriving at KUL Airport and don’t want to pay parking fees, your only option is to use the Long-Term Car Park (LTCP), which offers a 30-minute free period.
